We are investigating the mechanisms behind the functions of food resources for potential applications in functional food and cosmetic industries. Furthermore, we are interested in the distribution of food resources in arid areas in order to build a functional database of food resources in these areas, as well as developing bio-markers for food or/and environmental safety assessment.
In our laboratory, we have optimized more than 30 types of bioassay systems for the assessment of food functions and environmental safety. Our in vitro bioassays are being performed using human and animal cells. In addition, we perform in vivo studies using different mice models. All these bioassays are devoted to evaluate novel functions and the molecular mechanisms involved. Moreover, we carry out the fieldworks to gather the necessary informations about food resources in our target areas.
